Shaft, Intermediate, Extension: Removal

NOTE:

Review all Warnings and Cautions. Refer to WARNING .

Secure steering wheel in STRAIGHT-AHEAD position using a steering wheel holder.

1 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT EXTENSION

2 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT

3 - STEERING GEAR SHAFT

Remove coupling pinch bolt securing intermediate shaft (2) to intermediate shaft extension (1).

Slide intermediate shaft off extension.

2 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT EXTENSION

3 - STEERING COLUMN

Loosen one of the bolts securing extension bearing (1) in place. This must be done to allow adequate movement in bearing when removing or installing intermediate shaft extension.
Remove and Discard coupling pinch bolt securing intermediate shaft extension (2) to steering column (3) shaft.
Slide extension off column shaft, then slide extension out of bearing and remove from vehicle.
