Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC. NOTE:
Ensure that the battery voltage is between 10 and 16 volts before proceeding.
NOTE:Diagnose and repair any CAN Bus communication DTCs that are present before continuing with this test procedure.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read active DTCs.
Is this DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Refer to STORED LOST COMMUNICATION DTCS and perform the Stored Lost Communication diagnostic procedure.
- VERIFY KEY PROGRAMMING NOTE:
It has been found that if a key learn procedure was aborted/canceled or the technician attempted to start the vehicle with the unlearned key by accident this code will become active because the BCM sees an invalid key attempting to start the vehicle. Also, if the BCM was replaced and the key doesn't start the vehicle it could set this code.
- With the scan tool, perform the key learn procedure to program keys.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Attempt to start the engine.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repairs complete.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- SKIM RELATED DTCS IN THE BCM
- With the scan tool, read active DTCs in the BCM.
Are there any SKIM related DTCs present in the BCM?
Yes
- Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and perform the SKIM related diagnostic procedure.
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- With the scan tool, read active DTCs in the BCM.
