Module, Anti-Lock Brake System (Abs): Installation
NOTE:
Left Hand Drive (LHD) vehicle shown, Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicle similar.
NOTE:
If the Antilock Brake System (ABS) module is replaced, it must be initialized using the scan tool.
CAUTION:
When installing the ABS module to the HCU, be sure to properly align the ABS module and the HCU so that sensor terminals or the contact pads do not touch other parts of the modules. Otherwise, damage to the pressure sensor or Pump Motor connection may result requiring HCU replacement.
- With the ABS module (3) forward of the brake lines (4), move the module (3) toward the outside of the vehicle and around the brake lines (4), in order to align it with the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (1).
- Align the ABS module contact tower (2) to the tower receiving hole of the Hydraulic Control Unit (1). Install the ABS module (3) to the HCU (1).without touching the tower terminals to any solenoids.NOTE:
For ease of installation, place the ABS Module Right Hand (RH) bottom retaining screw into the ABS Module mounting hole, prior to installing the ABS Module onto the HCU.
NOTE:Tighten the ABS module screws (2) in a crisscross pattern.
- Install and securely tighten the ABS module screws (2), securing the module (1) to the HCU.
- Connect the HCU electrical connector (3).
- Install negative battery cable.
- Install the air cleaner body. For 3.6L, refer to INSTALLATION . For 5.7L, refer to INSTALLATION . For 6.4L, refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
- Using the scan tool, initialize the ABS module by performing the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
