Base Seat
NOTE:
On vehicles without the heated seat option, the ODS is available for separate service replacement. On vehicles with the heated seat option, the ODS is serviced ONLY as a unit with the seat cushion foam and the cushion heater mat.
- Mark the Center Line (CL) of the seat cushion on the top of the seat cushion foam.CAUTION:
The adhesive used to secure the ODS to the seat is heat activated and requires that both the adhesive and the material it is applied to be ideally between 21° and 38° C (between 70° and 100° F). Application of the ODS to surfaces below 10° C (50° F) is not recommended as the adhesive becomes too firm to readily adhere. Do not touch or allow the adhesive patches to contact any foreign materials with the release paper removed. Do not attempt to add adhesive materials to the ODS.
- Peel the release paper (4) off of the two adhesive patches on the underside of the Occupant Detection Sensor (ODS) mat (2).
- Carefully position the ODS mat onto the seat cushion with the label between the branches containing the circular sensor cells centered on the marked seat cushion center line ± 5 millimeters (0.196 inches), and front-to-rear (A) with the back edge of the ODS mat positioned 185 ± 5 millimeters (7.283 inches ± 0.196 inches) rearward of the back edge of the front crimp channel in the seat cushion foam. The foam has cutouts (1) to aid in proper ODS mat positioning.
- Apply hand pressure (0.8 bar or 12 psi) over each of the two adhesive patches of the ODS mat for at least four seconds to activate and adhere the adhesive to the seat cushion foam.
- Feed the ODS pigtail wires and the hot melt connection block through the clearance hole (3) in the seat cushion foam just rearward of the ODS mat.
- Route the ODS pigtail wire under the rear of the seat cushion foam.
- Reach under the back of the front seat cushion frame to access and connect the ODS pigtail wire connector to the seat wire harness.
- Install the trim onto the front seat cushion foam and frame. Refer to COVER, SEAT CUSHION, THIRD ROW, INSTALLATION .
- Install the passenger side front seat into the vehicle. Refer to SEAT, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
