Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- For future reference, run and save a vehicle Scan Report and all related recorded data.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Test drive the vehicle and operate the speed control system. Select all of the speed control functions during the test drive.
- Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH WIRING TO THE SCCM WARNING:
Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:Do not place an intact non-deployed airbag face down on a hard surface, the airbag propels into the air if accidentally deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Speed Control Switch harness connector and the SCCM harness connector.
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair or replace any damaged wires, connectors, and open/spread terminals in accordance with the Service Information
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Speed Control Switch harness connector and the SCCM harness connector.
- REPLACE THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH AND RETEST FOR DTCS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Replace the Speed Control Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SWITCH, SPEED CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Press each Speed Control Switch position several times.
- Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replacing the Speed Control Switch repaired the fault.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
