Module, Body Control (BCM): Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the glove box assembly. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL
.
- Disconnect the wire harness connectors (2) from the Body Control Module (BCM).
- Remove the fastener(s) (3) at the bottom of the BCM (4).
- Loosen the top fastener(s) (1). The top fastener(s) only needs to be loosened to allow removal of the BCM.
- Pull the module away and downward from the side bulk head to remove the module.
- Remove the BCM from the vehicle.
