Module, Light Rain Sensor (LRSM): Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the inside rear view mirror from the mounting button (3) on the inside of the windshield glass (2). Refer to MIRROR, REARVIEW, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the connector receptacle for the Light Rain Sensor Module (LRSM) (6).
- Insert the tip of a small screwdriver into the rectangular cutout on one side of the spring steel retaining strap (5) on the LRSM and carefully pry the end of the strap closest to the glass away from the groove in the mounting bracket (4) on the windshield. Now rotate the loose side of the strap away from the glass far enough to disengage the other side of the strap from the mounting bracket groove.
- Firmly grasp the connector receptacle of the LRSM to pull the module away from the windshield glass and the mounting bracket.
- If the LRSM will be reinstalled, the silicone gelatin (SilGel) adhesive membrane pad MUST be removed, discarded and replaced with a new unit as described in: Standard Procedure - Silicone Gelatin Pad Replacement. Refer to MODULE, LIGHT RAIN SENSOR, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
