RF-Hub Programming

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

If other Electronic Control Modules (ECUs) need to be replaced with the RF-Hub before proceeding. Refer to  STANDARD PROCEDURE  .

NOTE:

If, during programming, the diagnostic scan tool instructs to "Enter the vehicle PIN number," care should be taken because the RF-Hub will only allow 3 consecutive attempts to enter the correct PIN. If 3 consecutive incorrect PIN's are entered, the RF-Hub will Lock Out the scan tool. To exit Lock Mode, the ignition must remain in the Off position for 25 minutes. All accessories must be off. A battery charger connected to the battery during this time period is recommended.

NOTE:

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) stores the secret key information. When the RF-Hub needs to be replaced, the secret key information will be retrieved from the PCM and then transferred to the new RF-Hub for security use.

Perform the following after completion of a diagnostic repair:

  1. Connect the previously disconnected components and connectors.
  2. It may be necessary to obtain the vehicle's unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) assigned to the vehicle. This number can be obtained from the original vehicle invoice or from your Service Manager or Parts Manager.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. With the scan tool select: RF-Hub.
  5. Turn the ignition OFF.
  6. If the RF-Hub was replaced or if adding any un-programmed or new Frequency Operated Button Integrated Key (FOBIK)s, program all of the FOBIKs that are to be used with this vehicle. With the scan tool, select "Misc. Functions," "Program Ignition FOBIKs" and follow the instructions on the screen. All FOBIKs that are to be used in this vehicle must remain on the front seat near the console during programming.
    NOTE:

Do not put a Laptop or other wireless device (cell phone, cell phone, audio device, and others) on top of or near the center console (between the seats to the dash). The Low Frequency (LF) antenna is below the center console and these devices may interrupt programming. Make sure that the FOBIKs that are being programmed is inside the vehicle away from nearby consumer electronics. Disconnect aftermarket cell phone chargers before attempting to program.

  7. If the RF-Hub was replaced, with the scan tool select "Misc. Functions," "RF-HUB Replace" and follow the instructions on the screen.
  8. Turn the ignition ON then OFF while then leaving the key in the ON position.
  9. With the scan tool, erase all RF-Hub Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  10. Operate all equipped RF-Hub system and components (Passive Entry, Remote Start, Ignition positions and others).
  11. Wait four minutes after completing step 10.
  12. With the scan tool, check for RF-Hub DTCs.
  13. If any RF-Hub DTCs are present, and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
  14. If no DTCs are present, the repair is complete.
