Module, Security Gateway (SGW): Removal

NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available). 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL .

    NOTE:

    The Security Gateway Module (SGW) is mounted to the instrument panel on a bracket behind the steering column opening cover.

  3. Remove the nuts (1) and disconnect the SGW wire harness connectors (2).
  4. Remove the module from the vehicle.
