Valve Body

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:

The Transmission Control Module (TCM), or Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCMA) is extremely sensitive to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Always use a ground strap and follow the ESD guidelines in ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE SENSITIVE DEVICES. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the TCM/TCMA.

  1. Install the fluid port (1) with NEW  O-rings (2) and seal (3) on the valve body.

  2. Install the valve body assembly on the transmission using the previously installed (special tool #10379, Pins, Valve Body Alignment) (1) as a guide.
  3. Use an appropriate tool on one of the alignment pins to assist in holding the valve body in position while installing the valve body bolts.

  4. Install the valve body bolts not including 16-18 and hand tighten.
  5. Remove the pins and install the remaining bolts.

  6. Using (special tool #10377, Remover/Installer, Guide Sleeve) (1) carefully install the electrical harness insulator (2) to the transmission case (3).

  7. Install and lock the electrical connector lock (2) to the internal harness end.
  8. Install the rear valve body retaining bolts (3) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  9. When installing the OSS into the case, take care to position the OSS guide pin as shown below or DAMAGE  to the sensor may result. This is the INCORRECT  alignment of the pin.

  10. This is the CORRECT  installation and pin alignment.
  11. Install the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  12. If equipped, install the Hydraulic Impulse Oil Storage (HIS) accumulator (1).
  13. Tighten the bolts (2 and 3) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  14. Connect the HIS electrical connector.
  15. Install the valve body bolts and hand tighten.

  16. Tighten the valve body bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  17. Remove the tie strap and return the Manual Park Release (MPR) lever (1) to the original position. Tighten the MPR bolt (2) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  18. Install the transmission oil pan and gasket.
  19. Install the thirteen transmission oil pan bolts and tighten the to the proper using the sequence given. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  20. Connect the transmission wire harness connector (1).

  21. Turn the locking mechanism (1) of the transmission wire harness connector (2) clockwise to lock it in place.
  22. If the valve body is replaced, program the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL (TCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
  23. Perform the TRANSMISSION FILL AFTER SERVICE procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - TRANSMISSION FILL AFTER SERVICE .
  24. Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST, 8HP50/850RE or refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST, 8HP70 .
