Module, Shaft Lock: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:

To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbags, airbag curtains, knee blocker, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) / negative battery cable assembly from the negative battery post, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

  3. Reach through the opening in the top of the column mount (1) to access and remove the fastener (2) that secures the shaft lock module (3) to the steering column housing (4).
  4. Lift the connector end of the shaft lock module away from the column housing far enough to disengage the lock bolt from the slotted opening in the column housing and shaft.
  5. Pull the shaft lock module towards the lower end of the column housing far enough to disengage the engagement tab of the module from the steering column housing.
  6. Remove the shaft lock module from the steering column.
