Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
- With the scan tool, read the Electronic Shift Module (ESM) DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Electronic Shift Module (ESM) terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace the Shift Lever Assembly in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Review the Vehicle Scan Report and Repair any other DTCs that have set with the appropriate procedure in Service Information.
