Module, Fleet Telematics (FTM): Operation
OPERATION
The FTM receives data from several modules via the Security Gateway (SGW) Module using the CAN bus. The SGW module communicates with the Body Control Module (BCM), Powertrain Control Module (PCM)/Engine Control Module (ECM), Transmission Control Module (TCM), Antilock Brake Module (ABM), Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC), Radio Frequency Hub (RFH) Module and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to obtain the data that is transmitted to the Fleet Management System. The Global Positioning System (GPS) data is acquired via the GPS antenna and transmitted to the Fleet Management System as well.
Data snapshots are sent every 30 seconds to the end user is as follows:
- Data obtained by the FTM
- Transmitted to the AT&T Network
- Transferred to the Sprint server
- Simultaneously relayed to Telogis and FCA
- Supplied to the end user by Telogis
Power is supplied through the 20 amp inline radio fuse from the battery and the FTM has a dedicated ground to the instrument panel ground.
