Module, Forward Facing Camera Half: Description
The Forward Facing Camera-HALF (FFC-HALF) module is a control unit located inside the vehicle, on the windshield, behind the interior rear-view mirror.
This control unit provides separate management for the following systems:
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Automatic High Beam Control (AHBC)
The FFCM-HALF module is connected to the high-speed Controller Area Network-Chassis (CAN-C).
The systems based on this system must have a common structure that includes the following modules:
- The Camera which detects the conditions in front of the vehicle.
- Image processing unit (IPU) , which processes the images and detects the characteristics of the conditions in front of the vehicle. In particular, the IPU needs the vehicle speed, the yaw and the wiper position to analyze the conditions.
- Control unit (CU) , which receives the information on the conditions and, on the basis of the parameters specified by the control unit, implements the activation/deactivation strategies for each system.
- Vehicle system , which comprises the other control units that exchange data with the FFCM-HALF module; generally includes the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) which permits each system to interact with the user.
The camera, the IPU and the CU are integrated physically with the FFCM-HALF module.
The FFCM-HALF module connector has 12 pins, but only 4 are connected:
- Pin 2 - CAN High
- Pin 3 - CAN Low
- Pin 6 - Power
- Pin 7 - Ground
