CANADIAN Programming/Gate Programming

Canadian radio-frequency laws require transmitter signals to "time-out" (or quit) after several seconds of transmission which may not be long enough for the HomeLink® transceiver to pick up a successful signal during programming. Similar to this Canadian law, some U.S. gate operators are designed to "time-out" in a similar manner.

For Canadian vehicles, or if there are difficulties with successfully performing the above Step 3 procedure in "Programming HomeLink® Transceiver Codes", perform the alternative Step 3 below:

NOTE:

When programming a garage door opener or gate operator, it is advised to unplug the device or move the vehicle out of range during the "cycling" process to prevent possible overheating.

  1. 3. Continually press and hold the HomeLink® transceiver button while also pressing and releasing ("cycle") the hand-held transmitter every two seconds  until the frequency signal has been successfully identified. The indicator light will flash slowly and then rapidly indicating a successfully identified frequency signal. After this step is properly performed, proceed to the above Step 4 in "Programming HomeLink® Transceiver Codes" to complete the programming process.
