Component Functional Description-Multiplex (MUX) Switch

Component Functional Operation:  The Speed Control (S/C) Switches are two separate Multiplex (MUX) Analog Switch signals. The switch is a component of the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). The speed control signal circuits are hard-wired to the Body Control Module (BCM). There are two individual MUX signals on this switch. One MUX signal indicates the On/Off switch position. The second MUX signal indicates the S/C function being selected. The On/Off MUX Switch is not a momentary switch and the signal is open when switched off. The other speed control positions are momentary switches. The signal circuit is typically a 5.0 volt pull up signal. Each switch position has a unique resistor that varies the voltage of the signal circuit for each position selected (I.E. up/down, left/right, open/close, etc.). The resistors can be configured in series or parallel inside the MUX Switch.

The generic graphic below depicts the functionality of the S/C Switch.
