Module, Electronic Shift (ESM): Removal

WARNING:
Always secure your vehicle by fully applying the parking brake, before activating the Manual Park Release. Activating the Manual Park Release will allow your vehicle to roll away if it is not secured by the parking brake or by proper connection to a tow vehicle. Activating the Manual Park Release on an unsecured vehicle could lead to serious injury or death for those in or around the vehicle.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Using a trim stick or equivalent, carefully release the retaining clips and lift the shifter boot (1).
- Unplug the wire harness connector (3) between the knob and lower base.
- Remove the shifter knob fastener (4) and remove the shifter knob (2) and shifter boot (1).
- Using a trim stick (2) or equivalent, starting at the rear of the console bezel panel (1), carefully release the retaining clips and lift the console bezel panel. Disconnect the wire harness connectors and remove the console bezel panel.
- Remove the shifter bolts (1) and lift the shifter assembly (2) up enough to allow access to the shifter wire harness connector.
- Disconnect the shifter wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the shifter from the vehicle.
