The single pane sunroof has a single motor (5) and an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) (2) secured by fasteners near the center of the underside of the rear sunroof frame member where it is concealed above the headliner. The motor is a reversible, 12 volt Direct Current (DC) permanent magnet motor with internal thermal protection. The motor is connected mechanically to the sunroof drive gear (4) through a right angle drive and gear reduction transmission (3). The motor also is connected electrically to the on-board ECU that includes an integral connector receptacle (1) that connects the ECU to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the sunroof wire harness.

The sunroof motor and the ECU components cannot be repaired or replaced individually. If either component is found to be ineffective or damaged, the motor and ECU is to be replaced together as a complete assembly.
