Diagnostic Verification Test
PERFORM RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST
If replacing the airbag control module, it is necessary to load the software using the scan tool. Go to the ORC control module "flash" environment and carefully follow the instructions on the scan tool. Then select "CDCM Control Unit" in the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu and run the "Calibration Accelerometers" procedure, carefully following the instructions given by the scan tool. Finally, select "ABS control module" in the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu and run the "Longitudinal and lateral acceleration sensor calibration" procedure, carefully following the instructions given by the scan tool. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
- Remove any special tools or jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components - except the Battery.
If equipped with the keyless ignition, use this ignition on warning.
WARNING:Disconnect the 12-volt battery wait two minutes before proceeding, remove the ORC fuses, connect the 12-volt battery, wait two minutes before proceeding. Cycle the ignition to the On position, then reconnect the ORC fuses. Wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
If equipped with the standard key ignition, use this ignition on warning.
WARNING:Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector - use the most current software available.
- With the scan tool, erase stored DTCs in all airbag system modules.
- Perform module reset.NOTE:
If equipped with an Airbag On - Off switch, read the DTCs in all switch positions.
- Exercise the Restraints System to duplicate the appropriate monitor conditions for any DTCs that were set.
- Wait one minute, and read active codes, if there are none present, read the stored codes.
- If the scan tool shows any active or stored codes, return to the DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and follow the path specified for that trouble code. If no active or stored codes are present, the repair is complete.
Are any DTCs present or, is the original condition still present?
Yes
- Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- If the battery was disconnected for any reason, you must perform the Battery Reconnection procedure in BATTERY, INSTALLATION .
- Repair is complete.
