Gear Shifter Assembly Removal

  1. Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the center instrument panel cupholder assembly. Refer to CUPHOLDER, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the cupholder support bracket.

    2 - Shift Cable Lock Collar
  4. Disconnect the shift cable end at the shifter.
  5. Pull the lock collar to disengage the shift cable from the shifter.

    2 - Shifter Boot Trim Ring Tabs
  6. Pull the shifter boot down.
  7. Gently pull the pry outwards on the shifter boot trim ring tabs and slide the ring away from the shifter.

    1 - Shift Knob Screw
  8. Remove the shift knob screw and the knob from the shifter.

    1 - Tow/Haul Switch Harness Connector
    2 - Shifter Bezel Retention Tabs
  9. Using a trim stick, separate shifter bezel from instrument panel.
  10. Disconnect the tow/haul switch harness connector.

    1 - Electronic Shift Module (ESM) Harness Connector
  11. Disconnect the ESM harness connector from the shifter.

    1 - Shifter Bolt Location
  12. Remove the shifter bolts.
  13. Remove the shifter through the bottom of the instrument panel.
