Steering System: Column: Removal
- Position the front wheels of vehicle (and steering wheel) in the STRAIGHT-AHEAD position. This will help keep the clockspring properly centered for reinstallation.
- Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Refer to WHEEL, STEERING, REMOVAL .
- Remove the lower steering column shroud. Refer to SHROUD, STEERING COLUMN, UPPER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the upper steering column shroud. Refer to SHROUD, STEERING COLUMN, UPPER, REMOVAL .
- Push the tilt lever downward to the released position.
- Push the tilt lever upward, locking the column in place.
- Remove the clockspring. Refer to CLOCKSPRING, REMOVAL

- Remove the steering column pinch bolt (1).
- Separate the steering shaft from the steering gear.
- Disengage the wiring harness routing clip (2).
- Remove the steering column nuts (1).
- Remove the steering column bolts (1).
- Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
