Theory Of Operation

The Central Vision Processing Module (CVPM) generates the view in the Surround View Camera (SVC) system display according to inputs received from the four external cameras and driver touch screen inputs. The SVC system uses several different types of inputs and outputs from the Body Control Module (BCM), CVPM, and Radio. The CVPM combines the video feeds together and outputs it to the display screen. The CVPM on this model processes four cameras.

The CVPM receives:

The CVPM uses these signals to process and determine dynamic grid line images. The CVPM uses the Controller Area Network-Interior High Speed (CAN-IHS) network to send each of the images to the radio for display. When using the diagnostic scan tool, the data display screen of the ECU will show voltage values for the cameras associated to the vehicle (i.e. Front, Left, Right or Rear Camera Power). Under normal operating conditions the ECU will display 10.0 volts. If a camera is not connected the voltage value will show 10.0 volts. If the associated camera circuit is shorted (voltage, ground, etc.) those differing voltage results will be reflected on the data display as well for assisting in further troubleshooting.
