Removal And Installation: Column: Notes
REMOVAL
- Position the front wheels of vehicle (and steering wheel) in the STRAIGHT-AHEAD position. This will help keep the clockspring properly centered for reinstallation.
- Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.
- Remove the lower steering column shroud.
- Remove the upper steering column shroud.
- Push the tilt lever downward to the released position.
- Push the tilt lever upward, locking the column in place.
- Remove the clockspring. Refer to CLOCKSPRING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the steering column pinch bolt.
1 - Steering Column Pinch Bolt - Separate the steering shaft from the steering gear.
- Disengage the wiring harness routing clip.
1 - Steering Column Nuts 2 - Wire Harness Routing Clip - Remove the steering column nuts.
- Remove the steering column bolts.
1 - Steering Column Bolts - Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle.
