Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

Found on automatic transmission equipped vehicles only, the neutral safety switch sends this voltage signal to the ECU whenever the gear selector has been placed in any drive mode. This signal is then used by the ECU as an indication that an increased air/fuel charge may be necessary to maintain correct engine idle when the transmission is placed in any drive gear.
