October 30: LEMON manuals on a temporary server, it is slow and having issues, download the manuals you need! Later in November we will switch back to the fast server.
Turbocharger Pressure Check
- Disconnect turbocharger pressure control hose at wastegate solenoid valve (attached to air cleaner) and plug nipple. Attach pressure gauge to hose. See Fig 1
.
- Drive vehicle and accelerate engine in second gear to more than 3500 RPM. Measure turbocharger pressure when pressure gauge stabilizes. Pressure gauge should read 6-11 psi (.4-.8 kg/cm2
).
- If pressure gauge reads higher than specified, check wastegate actuator. See WASTEGATE ACTUATOR TEST. Replace wastegate actuator as required. If pressure gauge reads lower than specified, go to next step.
- Check wastegate actuator. See WASTEGATE ACTUATOR TEST. Replace wastegate actuator as required. Also, check for turbocharger pressure leaks and faulty turbocharger.
CAUTION:
When testing wastegate actuator, DO NOT
apply more than 12 psi (.9 kg/cm2
) to wastegate actuator. On all models, check that wastegate actuator rod moves. Replace wastegate actuator if rod does not move or actuator does not hold pressure.
