Steering Gear - Power: Description

A rotary valve in the pinion assembly directs fluid to either side of the integral rack piston. Tie rods connect the rack and pinion to the steering knuckles. Steering wheel movement is transmitted by the shaft, mounted in the steering column, to the pinion through 2 universal joint couplings. The rack and pinion assembly converts rotational movement of the pinion to transverse movement of the rack.
