Power Steering Pump: Reassembly
- Install piston rod, plunger and spring. Larger end of spring fits toward pressure switch. Disassemble pressure switch and install new "O" rings. Install pressure switch.
- Apply ATF (Dexron or Dexron-II) to flow control valve and install valve and spring. Install hose connectors, using new "O" rings. Drive oil seal into pump body.
- Install rotor to shaft and pulley assembly so that punch-marks face pump cover side. Install snap ring and ensure it is in counter sunk part of rotor.
- Apply ATF to vane and cam ring friction surfaces. Align dowel pins of pump body with dowel holes of cam ring, and install cam ring with punch-mark toward pump body side.
- Apply ATF to vanes and install vanes in rotor with round edge toward cam ring. Apply ATF to "O" ring and install firmly on cam case. Install cam case. Apply ATF to rotor friction surface of pump cover. Apply ATF to "O" ring and install pump cover. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Bleed system and check for leaks.
