Test 71A - Seat Belt Switch Circuit Short To Ground
NOTE:

- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.3L
- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.5L
- Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure left front seat belt is not fastened. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to TEST 72A. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Fasten left front seat belt. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT OPEN, system is operating properly at this time. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT OPEN, go to next step.
- Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located on left side door pillar, just behind seat. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
