Ignition System Identification

NOTE: This vehicle was available with either the Duraspark II or Duraspark III ignition system depending upon calibration. Use the following to identify the ignition system.

DS II:

DURASPARK II IGNITION SYSTEM
The DS II system can be distinguished by:
- Vacuum advance unit mounted on the distributor.
- Distributor will rotate (to allow for changing timing).

DS III, With EEC III Computer System:

Duraspark III IGNITION SYSTEM
The DS III system can be distinguished by:
- No vacuum advance unit.
- Distributor base is notched, will not rotate.
- Crankshaft position sensor mounted on front of engine.
- Used in conjunction with EEC III computer system.
