Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

The ECT sensor, located in engine coolant heater supply tube at rear of engine, monitors and signals the ECA of engine coolant temperature. This information is interpreted by the ECA as either cold or normal operating temperature. This information particularly influences ECA control of fuel mixture enrichment and EGR operation. See Fig 1 .
