Fuel Pump Relay Modification

  1. New fuel pump relay must be modified to serve as aid in testing fuel delivery system. Use a relay with Ford part number E3EB-9345-BA, CA, DA or E3TF-9345-AA.
  2. Relay case skirt must be modified. Drill 1/8" (3.2 mm) hole through side of skirt in line with row of 3 terminals and as close as possible to base of relay. See Fig 1 . Cut away skirt at ends in order to gain greater access to terminals. Add 16 or 18 gauge jumper wire to connect terminals No. 2 and 4 on relay.
  3. Solder wire ends to terminals as close to base of relay as possible so modified relay will fit into socket of board. Run 8-10' (2.4-3.0 m) of flexible wire to terminal No. 1 through hole drilled in relay skirt. Solder bare end of wire to terminal No. 1 and install alligator clip on opposite end for use as ground clip.
