Hydraulic Control System Time Lag Testing

  1. Engine coolant and transmission fluid must be at proper levels and operating temperature. Apply parking and service brake firmly. Start engine, and idle it at 725-775 RPM.
  2. Shift from "N" range to "OD" while measuring elapsed time until transaxle engages in gear. Run engine in Neutral for one minute to cool transmission. Repeat procedure shifting from "N" to "R".
  3. Repeat 3 times, and average the results. Refer to the HYDRAULIC CONTROL SYSTEM TIME LAG  . If transaxle engagement time is not within specification, go to OIL PRESSURE & CONTROL TESTING  . If transaxle engagement time is within specification, proceed to HYDRAULIC CONTROL SYSTEM TIME LAG TEST RESULTS  .

Gear Selection (1) Seconds
"N" To "OD" 0.5-1.0
"N" To "R" 0.5-1.0
(1) If transaxle engagement time lag is below specification, proceed to OIL PRESSURE & CONTROL TESTING  .
