Connector Pin Number Voltmeter Should Read
Test 1 - Ignition Switch In "OFF" Position
1 0-Volts
2 (not used)
3 0-Volts
4 Battery Voltage
5 0-Volts
6 0-Volts
7 0-Volts
8 0-Volts
9 0-Volts
10 0-Volts
Test 2 - Ignition Switch in "RUN" Position, Engine Running with A/C and Defrost Off.
1 Battery voltage with coolant temperature switch open
2 (not used)
3 0-Volts with coolant temperature switch open - Battery voltage with coolant temperature switch closed
4 Battery voltage
5 0-Volts - Continuity with ground
6 6-Volts
7 0-Volts
8 0-Volts
9 Battery voltage
10 0-Volts
Test 3 - Ignition Switch in "RUN" Position, Engine Running with A/C and Defrost On.
1 (3) 0-Volts with clutch cycling pressure switch closed or coolant temperature switch closed
2 (not used)
3 (3) Battery voltage with coolant temperature switch closed and or clutch cycling pressure switch closed (1) - 0-volts otherwise
4 Battery voltage
5 0-Volts
6 6-volts during normal operation - 0-volts during wide-open throttle operation (2)
7 Battery voltage
8 (1) Battery voltage when A/C clutch cycling pressure switch is closed and throttle is normal (3) - 0-volts with cycling switch open or throttle closed 0-Volts
9 Battery voltage
10 Battery voltage when A/C clutch cycling pressure switch and high pressure cut-out switch closed - 0-volts if switch is open
(1) When Pin 6 is grounded. Pin 8 will have 0 volts.
(2) High pressure cutout switch (if used) must also be closed.
(3) On fan controllers with prefix E53Z or later the fan motor will stay energized when the WOT switch is open. The fan motor will stay energized if the A/C cycling pressure switch opens for less than 2-3 minutes.
