Test DQ: Step 14

14) Checking FIPL Sensor Adjustment  Perform KOEO Self-Test with throttle in WOT position. After the last code is displayed, remain in Self-Test mode. Place .515" Gauge Block (T83T-7B200-AH) between the fuel pump lever travel limit screw and the gauge boss. See Fig 1-42. Cycle the Overdrive Cancel Switch (OCS) once while observing the Self-Test output of the STAR tester for:

NOTE: If no tone is heard, FIPL substrate may be internally worn. Check by moving sensor.
WARNING: DO NOT  turn the fuel pump lever travel limit screw. This screw is pre-set and should not be tampered with.

If adjustment is necessary on an FIPL that shows no signs of wear, loosen FIPL attachment screws. Rotate sensor until a steady tone is heard, or a steady light or "STO LO" is displayed. Tighten FIPL attachment screws. Remove Gauge Block (T83T-7B200-AH). Repeat the QUICK TEST.

If adjustment is necessary on an FIPL with a bracket showing signs of wear, remove epoxy from FIPL bracket screw heads. Loosen screws attaching the bracket. Rotate the bracket to get FIPL within range. Retighten screws and apply epoxy to screw heads. Remove Gauge Block (T83T-7B200-AH). Repeat the QUICK TEST.

If codes are still present or a steady tone or light cannot be obtained, replace the FIPL sensor.
