Ammeter Testing

  1. With engine off, turn headlights on. Meter pointer should move toward "D" (discharge) side of gauge. If pointer does not move, check continuity between battery and ammeter.
  2. If there is continuity, replace ammeter. If ammeter pointer moves toward "C" (charge) side of gauge with lights on and engine off, reverse ammeter connections. See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
