Oil Pressure & Control Testing

NOTE: This test checks oil pump line pressure, line pressure control, throttle control pressure and oil leakage.
  1. Connect tachometer to engine. Connect pressure gauge at line pressure inspection hole (square head plug "L"), located next to oil pump. See Fig 1 .
  2. With engine idling at 725-775 RPM in Park, shift to Drive and read line pressure at idle. Firmly apply brake pedal. Steadily increase engine RPM to maximum speed and, within 5 seconds, read line pressure (when engine speed stabilizes). Release accelerator. DO NOT  exceed 5-second limit.
  3. Check and record pressure. Repeat step 2) for each gear. Before shifting into each selector position, run engine in Neutral for one minute to cool transmission. If line pressure is within specification, proceed to THROTTLE PRESSURE TESTING  . Refer to the CONTROL PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  . If line pressure is not within specification, go to OIL PRESSURE & CONTROL TEST RESULTS  .
