System Functional Test

  1. Engine speed should be at least 1200 RPM. Set function selector lever to VENT position. Check blower operation in LO and HI settings. If blower operation is okay, move selector lever to AUTO position. If blower motor does not operate in all positions, correct fault. See BLOWER MOTOR DIAGNOSIS  under TESTING.
  2. Move temperature control lever from 65 to 85 and observe blower motor speed change and air temperature change. Move temperature control lever back to 65 and observe blower and temperature outputs. See INTERIOR TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE TEST  table.
  3. Place temperature control lever at 65. Move function lever to NORM A/C position. Outside air/recirculation door should open and A/C compressor clutch should engage to produce colder air temperatures.
  4. Move temperature control lever to 75. Blower motor speed should slow to low or medium speed and discharge air temperature should rise to a moderate level.
