Turn Signal Switch Test

  1. Ensure HAZARD fuse is okay. Replace if necessary. If fuse blows, repair short in Brown wire to flasher unit. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Remove flasher unit, located at relay module at left side of dash. Check for battery voltage at Brown wire at flasher unit connector. If battery voltage exists, go to step 3). If battery voltage does not exist, repair Brown from fuse panel.
  3. Measure resistance between Black wire at flasher unit and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 4). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair Black wire to ground.
  4. Ensure TURN fuse is okay. Replace if necessary. If fuse blows, repair short in Black/Green wire. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  5. Set ignition switch to RUN position. Check for battery voltage at Black/Green wire at turn signal switch. If battery voltage is present, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not present, repair Black/Green wire between fuse panel and turn signal switch.
  6. Install flasher unit. With ignition switch in RUN position, set turn signal switch to inoperative position. Check for battery voltage on output wire of inoperative side. Wire is Green/Yellow for left and Black/Red for right. If battery voltage is present, turn signal switch is okay. If battery voltage is not present, replace turn signal switch.
