Transistorized High Energy System

2.2L Ignition Components:

PURPOSE
Distributes ignition coil spark to plugs at the correct time and in proper sequence (firing order).

LOCATION
Left end cylinder head.

OPERATION
The ignition system is entirely electronic and ECA controlled. The ECA receives a triggering signal from various switches and sensors and sends the spark timing signal through the ignition module to the distributor. The distributor provides a signal to the ECA indicating crankshaft top dead center by means of its cylinder TDC sensors.

CONSTRUCTION
Advance is ECA controlled. Distributor contains no vacuum or mechanical advance mechanisms.
