Switch Test
Test switch with a self-powered test lamp or ohmmeter such as Rotunda Digital Volt Ohmmeter 007-00001 or equivalent when the switch is disconnected from the wiring. For terminal identification, see Fig 1 .
- With all switch knobs in the NEUTRAL position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Terminal No. 2 should be disconnected from all others.
- With switch knob A depressed, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 and terminals No. 2 and 7.
- With switch knob B depressed there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 and terminals No. 2 and 5.
- With switch knob C pushed up there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 2 and 7 and terminals No. 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8.
- With switch knob C pushed down there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 3, 4, 7 and 8 and terminals No.2, 5 and 6.
- With switch knob C pushed to the right there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and terminals No. 2 and 3.
- With switch knob C pushed to the left there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and terminals No. 2 and 8.
- With switch knob D depressed there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 and terminals No. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
- With switch knob E depressed there should be continuity between terminals No. 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 and terminals No. 2 and 6.
- If any part of the switch fails to test as outlined, replace the entire switch assembly.
