Module Check

  1. Turn ignition off. Using a jumper wire, connect diagnostic connector circuit No. 200 to ground. See Figure . Connect positive lead to diagnostic connector circuit No. 606. Connect negative lead to vehicle ground. Start engine. Rotate steering wheel for approximately 90 seconds and note any changes in steering effort. The effort should vary between light and heavy in both directions.
  2. After 90 seconds, voltmeter will show a sweep pattern 4 times between battery voltage and zero volts if module is okay. There will be 0, 2 or 6 sweeps if a component is malfunctioning. After a 5-second pause, sweep pattern will repeat. Remove jumper wire from circuit No. 200 before proceeding to next test. See MODULE CHECK TABLE  .
