Section 74 (Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts): Introduction
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 15 other vehicles, including the 1994 Mercury Tracer, 1994 Mercury Topaz, 1994 Mercury Sable, 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis, and 1994 Mercury Cougar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems. To determine correct engine control system, see SYSTEM APPLICATION table.
SYSTEM APPLICATION
| Application | System |
|---|---|
| 1.8L & 2.5L | EEC |
| Cougar 4.6L, Mustang 3.8L & Thunderbird 4.6L | EEC-V |
| All Others | EEC-IV |
NOTE:
Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance. For sensor testing procedures, see appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below.
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC 1.8L (for Escort & Tracer)
- TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (1.9L) (for Escort & Tracer)
