Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

Manual Lever Position (MLP) Switch:

Manual Lever Position (MLP) Switch:

Using Rotunda 73 Digital Multimeter 105-00051, measure the resistance between the "BK/BL" and "BK/R"("BK/Y"and"BK/R"on component side) wire terminals at the connector leading to the Manual Lever Position (MLP) switch. Move the shift control selector lever through all positions.

The resistance should be less than 5 ohms with the shift control selector lever in the "PARK" or "NEUTRAL" position. The resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms in all other positions.

If the resistance is not as specified above, replace the MLP switch.
