Headlight Switch Test
- Turn ignition off. Unplug connectors from combination switch. Hold switch in flash-to-pass position. Measure resistance between terminals 2C (Red/Yellow wire on mating connector) and 2B (Red/White wire on mating connector). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace switch.
- Release switch lever. Measure resistance between terminals 2C (Red/Yellow wire on mating connector) and 2B (Red/White wire on mating connector). If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not greater than 10,000 ohms, replace switch.
- Set switch to low beam position. Measure resistance between terminals 2D (White wire on mating connector) and 2B (Red/White wire on mating connector). Resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
- Set switch to low beam position. Measure resistance between terminals 2D (White wire on mating connector) and 2A (Red/Black wire on mating connector). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
- Set switch to high beam position. Measure resistance between terminals 2D (White wire on mating connector) and 2B (Red/White wire on mating connector). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
- Set switch to high beam position. Measure resistance between terminals 2D (White wire on mating connector) and 2A (Red/Black wire on mating connector). Resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
- Set switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between terminals 1D (White/Red wire on mating connector) and 1E (Black wire on mating connector). Resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
- Set switch to PARK position. Measure resistance between terminals 1D (White/Red wire on mating connector) and 1E (Black wire on mating connector). Resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
- Set switch to HEADLIGHT position. Measure resistance between terminals 1D (White/Red wire on mating connector) and 1E (Black wire on mating connector). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
