Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. To avoid component damage, handle module with proper precaution.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.

Ignition Module:






2. Unplug module electrical connector.

3. Remove mounting nuts and screws.

4. Remove module.

INSTALLATION

1. Position module, install nuts and screws.

2. Plug in electrical connector.

3. Connect negative battery cable.

4. Check for proper operation.
