Entering Self-Diagnostics: Notes

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be retrieved using one of the following methods.
- Using an analog Volt-Ohmmeter (VOM).
- Using Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL).
- Using Superstar II (007-0041B) scan tester.
- Using New Generation Star (007-00500) scan tester.
Codes are accessed from PCM using Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure and Figure. Procedure to retrieve codes varies with each method. Follow QUICK TEST procedure for specific method being used to retrieve codes. If no code or only intermittent fault is found after performing QUICK TEST, proceed to SWITCH MONITOR TEST.
