Continuous Monitor Mode (Wiggle Test)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Sable, 1994 Mercury Cougar, 1994 Lincoln Continental, 1994 Ford Thunderbird, and 1994 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

In this mode, the technician can attempt to re-create an intermittent fault while monitoring the system. This mode, also called the wiggle test, may be used in Key On Engine Off (KOEO) and Key On Engine Running (KOER) self-test modes. Refer to CIRCUIT TESTS in TESTS W/CODES - EEC-IV (3.8L) article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section for instructions on the use of this procedure to identify intermittent faults in specific circuits or components.
