Section 34 (Engine Controls - System/Component Tests - EEC-V): Introduction

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Cougar, 1994 Ford Thunderbird, and 1994 Ford Mustang. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: System & component testing for EEC-V (Cougar 4.6L, Mustang 3.8L and Thunderbird 4.6L) is integrated into self -diagnostics procedures. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC-V article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below for testing procedures.

Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in appropriate BASIC TESTING article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below. Since many computer-controlled and monitored components set a trouble code if they malfunction, also perform procedures in appropriate TESTS W/CODES - EEC-V article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section below.

NOTE: Testing individual components does not isolate shorts or opens. Perform all voltage tests with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens. codes received during QUICK TEST.
