Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis and 1994 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove right and left instrument panel moldings. Remove cluster finish panel screws.
  2. Remove headlight automatic dim switch knob. Remove headlight switch shaft. Remove steering column retaining bolts, and lower steering column. Remove PRNDL cable from gear selector. Lower steering column so it rests on front seat. Remove instrument cluster finish panel. Remove center finish panel.
  3. Remove 4 screws from control panel and pull away from dash. See Figure . Unplug electrical connections and vacuum connector from control panel assembly.
  4. Automatic temperature control sensor is mounted behind instrument panel. See Figure . To remove sensor, remove mounting screws. Unplug electrical connector, and remove sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure.
