Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect electrical connector at Ignition Control Module (ICM).

3. Remove module mounting bolt and remove ICM. Slide toward front of vehicle, to release ignition control module from tear-drop hole in sheet metal.

INSTALLATION
1. Insert rivet of ignition control module into tear-drop mounting hole in sheet metal and push into position. Install attaching bolt. Tighten bolt to 3-4 Nm (27-35 in lb).
2. Connect electrical connector to ICM.
3. Connect negative battery cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
